What should I do if my urine routine shows low white blood cells and positive urine occult blood?

Low urinary white blood cells and positive urinary occult blood may be caused by malaria, aplastic anemia, hypersplenism and other diseases, and require symptomatic treatment according to the cause.

1. Malaria

Malaria is caused by Plasmodium infection, which can lead to a decrease in urinary white blood cell indicators. When the kidneys are involved, it can also cause positive urinary occult blood.

Patients should pay attention to bed rest and use chloroquine phosphate tablets, pyrimethamine, primaquine phosphate tablets and other antimalarial drugs as directed by the doctor. They can gradually recover after standard treatment.

2. Aplastic anemia

Patients with aplastic anemia may have positive urinary occult blood and low white blood cell indicators due to bone marrow hematopoietic failure.

Patients should avoid scratching the skin to prevent aggravation of spontaneous bleeding. At the same time, they can use cyclosporine, cyclophosphamide, danazol and other drugs as directed by the doctor to control the progression of the disease. If necessary, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation can be performed to improve hematopoietic function.

3. Hypersplenism

In patients with hypersplenism, abnormal spleen function will cause a decrease in platelets, positive urinary occult blood, and a decrease in white blood cell count.

Patients need timely transfusion of platelets to improve spontaneous bleeding and transfusion of red blood cells to correct anemia. If necessary, you can choose surgical treatment to remove the spleen to improve the prognosis of the disease.
