Is your mouth always dry and thirsty? Or related to these 6 aspects

Dry mouth is a common symptom that can be caused by a variety of factors. Here are some common causes of dry mouth:

1. Lack of water: Lack of water in the body is one of the most common causes of dry mouth. When the body lacks adequate fluids, the mucous membranes of the mouth and tongue may become dry, resulting in a feeling of thirst.

2. Drug side effects: Certain drugs, especially antidepressants, diuretics and antihistamines, may cause dry mouth as one of their side effects. These drugs may affect the function of the salivary glands and reduce saliva production.

3. Dry climate: In a dry environment, the humidity in the air is low, which will accelerate the evaporation of water in the mouth, leading to dry mouth.

4. Overbreathing: Taking long, deep breaths or breathing through your mouth (rather than through your nose) can cause your mouth and throat to dry out. This is because mouth breathing accelerates the evaporation of water in the mouth.

5. Elderly people: As age increases, the physiological functions of the human body will undergo some changes, one of which is the decrease in saliva secretion. This may be due to reduced salivary gland function or because older adults tend to consume less fluids.

6. Disease: Certain diseases may also cause dry mouth. For example, conditions such as diabetes and anemia can affect the function of your salivary glands, causing dry mouth. In addition, some autoimmune diseases such as Sjögren’s syndrome can also cause dry mouth.

If you often experience dry mouth, it is recommended that you first make sure you drink enough fluids every day. If the symptoms of dry mouth persist or are accompanied by other symptoms, such as thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, etc., it is recommended that you consult a doctor to determine whether there are other underlying health problems.
